As you may have heard, our landlord recently shuttered our building and closed the doors on Over Yonder's storefront.
This was a heartbreaking moment for us.
Our shop wasn't just racks and shelves and a cash register. It was a collection of hundreds of small, thoughtful decisions. It was a showcase of beauty and ingenuity. It was a place to meet, wander, discover, and delight. We put a lot of love into that space and the experience it gave our guests. If you ever came to visit, we truly hope you felt that.
After all that effort and too little time, taking it apart, piece by piece, was gut-wrenching. What got us through was the outpouring of support from all of you. The messages, the shares, the people who showed up to shop or just to say, "this isn't the end for you, something better is coming” - that support meant more than we can say. It's easy to sell products. It's much harder, and much more valuable, to build a business around people who actually show up for you. In that sense, our ending was not a failure, but rather success in another, more meaningful form.
A friend put our closure this way: “Sometimes we win, and sometimes we learn.” But maybe sometimes we do both. Maybe sometimes the lessons are the prize. And now that we’ve had some time to recover and reflect on the experience, we can appreciate what it has taught us...
An address is not the answer. We thought the storefront was Over Yonder. It wasn't. The storefront was where the relationship took root, but the relationship itself, with all of you, travels with us.
Constraints can be illuminating. Losing the physical space forced a hard but important question: what actually matters? The answer, it turns out, is the same curiosity, curation, and care that made the storefront feel special, and none of that requires four walls to evolve and endure.
Momentum doesn't require permission. We didn't choose this timing. But momentum isn't something you're granted; it's something you keep building, from whatever ground you're standing on.
We’ll be honest, none of this makes the closure feel great. It was a tremendous loss, plain and simple, but it's not the end. Over Yonder is still very much here with the same eye for lovely details, the same commitment to quality over noise. And now it lives entirely at overyonderatx.com, with doors open to you at any time, from wherever you may be.
If you've supported us this far, thank you. Genuinely. And if you’re just discovering us, welcome.
Either way, stay tuned. More beauty and ingenuity, more wins and lessons, more connections and joy are on the way.
